My philosophy

Undergoing any kind of plastic surgery, whether it be aesthetic or reconstructive, is not a decision you take overnight. You need to carefully consider what you like to improve, which body part you want to focus on, which surgeon you would like to consult, and (in case of an aesthetic procedure) which budget you are able to spend. But the most important question you need to ask yourself is:  WHY ?

Start with why

Start with WHY

Before we can go into the details of the type of surgery, the results that you may expect and the recovery period that you need to take into account, I will always ask you at the beginning of a consultation: Why would you like to have this surgery ?

The sense of purpose that you create by answering “The Why” will ultimately result in achieving personal satisfaction after the surgery. It will also help me to understand your most important wishes and expectations. When we have a clear sense of why you would like to undergo a specific type of procedure, I will then be able to explain what is possible and how I can fulfil your expectations.

The “why”, followed by the “how” and the “what” are the three steps to achieve personal satisfaction.

Prepare yourself for your consultation with a plastic surgeon

Prepare yourself for your consultation

When you have decided why you would like to have surgery, take some time to go through the following bullet points to get you started on your journey.

  • Decide for yourself what you would like to improve. Having a clear idea of the changes you are aiming for will help me also to perfectly understand your hopes and wishes.

  • Read through the information provided on my website to get a better understanding of what's involved with getting plastic surgery

  • Go through the procedures explained on my website to have a broad sense of what my expertise is or pick a specific operation that you are interested in to read more about it

  • Every procedure involves a certain number of potential complications. It is important to realise that every surgery is associated with some kind of risk. I will explain them to you in detail, but I will also do everything in my power to reduce the risks to an absolute minimum. With good preparation, great understanding and maximum efforts by you and me, I am sure we are on the road to achieve success and personal satisfaction.

  • If necessary, strongly consider making a few lifestyle changes that will maximise the end result and further reduce the risk of potential complications. These mainly involve: quit smoking, reduce alcohol consumption, lose weight, stay hygienic, and maintain a healthy diet.

  • Understand the costs associated with plastic surgery, but do understand that this is an investment in yourself.

  • Ask enough questions during your consultation. Write them down beforehand, so you don’t forget them when we meet.

Most importantly, plastic surgery is an investment in yourself.

When it’s time for your consultation, consider this as a crash course in the world of plastic surgery. It is not easy to condens the years of in-depth training and studying into a 30- or 45-minute consultation. But what I do aim for is that you gain a clear view of your surgery, the pre- and post-operative instructions, and the results you can expect.

I give you options, it’s up to you to make a choice

The beauty of my profession is that it offers a perfect combination between advanced surgical techniques and challenging creative solutions. A logical consequence of that, is the possibility to offer multiple solutions or treatments for the request you may have. It is my job to educate you on each of those options, even those you may not have considered yet. Whenever possible, I will aim to offer more than one solution. This counts for both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. Through clear communication, I will list both the positive and negative aspects of each option, the differences in recovery period and (if applicable) price. Depending on your wishes (your "why") and expectations, we will then go for the best possible treatment to get the result you are wishing for. My goal is that you leave my consultation with a broader perspective then when you came in. Only then will you be able to make a clear decision.

Plastic surgery is the only medical profession where surgical technique and challenging creativity go hand in hand.
